Cloud storage startup Cirtas Systems has raised $10 million in Series A funding from NEA, Lightspeed Venture Partners and Amazon. The company is also launching its Bluejet Cloud Storage Controller product, which is a cloud-enabled enterprise storage system.

Cirtas’ Bluejet technology blends WAN optimization with virtualized storage arrays, replicating on-site enterprise storage arrays. Bluejet, which costs $70K per appliance, includes data security, automated tiered cache spanning RAM, SSD, and spinning disk, and promises to increase the speed of data transfers.

Users can also access snapshots of data stored in the cloud, spread data across multiple cloud platforms, on-demand insights into cloud storage costs on a volume-by-volume basis, and virtualized storage array capabilities.

Cirtas will use the new funding towards increasing adoption of Bluejet, as well as for building out the company’s team and fore sales and marketing efforts.
