LiveU, which markets solutions for live video transmissions over wireless networks, this morning announced that it has raised $11 million in Series C funding. The round was led by Pitango Venture Capital and joined by existing investors Carmel Ventures and Canaan Partners.

LiveU has raised a total of $23 million in venture capital to date.

Founded in 2006, LiveU develops technology for the transmission of high-quality live video from the field directly to the Internet and TV sets, by using wireless networks such as 3G, WiFi and WiMAX.

Recently, the company launched its next-gen HD platform, featuring advanced RF technology for resilient transmission even in poor cellular reception areas, in addition to affordable worldwide roaming.

Its customer include TV networks, news agencies and online media giants. LiveU has been used extensively in a wide array of events, including the World Cup in South Africa, the GRAMMY Awards in the US, the Beijing Olympics, and G20 Summits.

LiveU’s R&D center is based in Israel, and sales, marketing and support headquarters are based in New Jersey, USA. Isaac Hillel, Managing General Partner at Pitango Venture Capital, will be joining LiveU’s Board of Directors.
