card data was compromised in more than 19% of the 4,149 data breaches that
occurred worldwide in 2016. Of those breaches, more than half were caused by
hackers.

Data breaches can be extremely costly for small businesses. There are several
steps you can take to help protect your business:

  1. Comply with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). We
require our customers to validate their compliance annually. If you aren’t
compliant, you could be more vulnerable to a data breach, and you also may be
    subject to costly noncompliance fees.

  2. Upgrade your equipment to the TLS v1.2 security protocol and SHA-2 level
certificates. If you use a terminal with an internet connection or accept
payments online, these required updates will keep your payments running
    smoothly.

  3. Consider security tools such as encryption and tokenization to make it
harder for hackers to breach your business and get their hands on sensitive
    cardholder data.

how we can help you secure your business and prevent a costly data
    breach.
